SQL Service Pack Upgradation for SQL Server 2005
As you may be aware that some SQL versions are scheduled to exit mainstream support on July 8, 2014 as per Microsoft’s Lifecycle Policy.
To this effect, we are actively working to modify the service pack for these versions.
We understand that this is an important update and so we would like to assure you that you would be provided with only first class servicing for your SQL Server.
Thus, we are going to upgrade all our database servers from SQL2005/SQL2008 to SQL2008 R2 edition.
Database names, user names, password and database hostname will be the same as old, so there’s no need to change anything at your end. Following upgradation, you have to use SQL Management studio 2008 R2 for connecting to your database if you are using old SQL Management studio 2005 .
Expected Downtime : 2 hours or lesser.
Upgradation Schedule : 25th May, 2014, Sunday. 1:00 AM-3:00 AM IST.
